Merced is growing and Yosemite Crossing is proof!
What is Yosemite Crossing? Why Should we be excited?
What is Yosemite Crossing and why should we be excited? Yosemite Crossing is a new shopping plaza in North Merced. It will be a new home for Starbucks, Panda, West Coast Sourdough, The Habit Burger Grill, Mister Car Wash, and more! This is exciting because this land that is being constructed on was a desert for nearly a decade, but now it is finally coming to fruition. Having grown up in Merced since High School this is exciting as not only will it bring more amenities to the town but it will be a new place where the young can hang out and stay out of trouble.
For starters, there is a new Starbucks and has opened already. As you can see in the photo, they always have a nice aesthetic to their buildings. But once inside the café is spacious, has plenty of tables, and is an ideal study location for the students, whether from Merced College or UC Merced.
For this Starbucks, I highly recommend a Caramel Macchiato. Iced during the summer and hot during the winter. It is a delightful drink. However, for summer I would really want to recommend the Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher, but sadly Starbucks decided to discontinue the best dopamine releasing drink on their menu. I hold on to hope that it may return one day
I am very excited for the addition of The Habit Burger Grill. It is one of my favorite burger chains with my favorite order of the Pineapple Teriyaki. Before this Habit Burger Grill opens up, the closest one is in Atwater, which is one town and freeway drive away. For anyone in town that enjoys a delicious quick burger, this new construction will surely impress. The restaurants coming to Yosemite Crossing have had a good reputation before their construction.
More Amenities than Restaurants
Not all the businesses opening at Yosemite Crossing will be restaurants. There will be several functional businesses opening up as well that will bring value to the residents and visitors of Merced. What you see in the image above is a new carwash under construction that will open up in the plaza. This is amazing because North Merced does not have a carwash. This location will be a relief for northern residents that have difficulties finding the time, or simply don’t have the time, to wash their car. Also because the plaza is situated next to Merced college and close to UC Merced, this carwash will help students maintain their cars and saving them time to be able study. Other amenities to come to the plaza include a gas station and a Verizon store, among other businesses. This will help the town’s fuel needs and the residents cellphone needs, respectively.
The Impact to Merced
It is wonderful to see the Yosemite Crossing construction come to fruition. These new amenities this will will make the town of Merced all the more enjoyable and the surrounding neighborhoods all the more desirable. There is another great benefit. New jobs! The new plaza will prove to bring new jobs for the town. The new jobs will help reinforce the economy of the town, so Merced’s economy will be stronger. This is expected in the growing town of Merced that is only expected to grow further with the expansion of UC Merced, the future California highspeed railroad station to be built in downtown, and more and more development to come.
It is great that Yosemite Crossing has started it’s construction, but it is only and indicator of what is to come!
